Staying positive around customers and staff are really important cause if that see your in a negative mood they will know something is wrong. Another reason for staying positive is that it will also give you more time to think about a better plan. When you think recession the first thing that comes to mind is you will have to let some employees go, but that isn’t always the case, there are other ways around it. Yes laying off the employees  is an option but there your most powerful weapon in your business, you could train them yourself rather than sending them to a place that will charge you, there’s  a saving in itself right there.  Changing your marketing strategy is another way to save money, it would be a good idea to go through what you are using now and see if there are way to market your business that aren’t as expensive, maybe even free. Retaining customers is the best way to keep your business afloat, have promotion, discounts and sales to keep them interested, this might even expand your customer base. Sometime businesses have to re evaluate themselves and look at their priorities, focus on the more important thing and do those. Businesses should also cut back on waste, try to use only what you need remembering not to go overboard to save a little cash. Changing up your product line can also save, which just mean going with the less expensive and going to something a little less expensive equivalent. Another thing to look at would be if your business has a business contingency plan, which just means that you have a plan for just this occasion. You really never know when a recession will come but it always good to be prepared for when it does.
